WHY LEARN FROM ME?

There are many nail educators out there... so why learn from me?

Education has always been a top priority for me.  Whether it be enhancing my own education or teaching others, I have devoted many years and countless hours to it.  In order to stay relevant in the beauty industry, I believe continued education is VITAL!  You will never regret investing in yourself!

____________

BRAND EDUCATOR

In 2018 I had the opportunity to become a brand educator for a company that reflects my same professional goals and values, Magpie Beauty USA.

I have taught countless students about Magpie products and how to improve their professional skills.  I am now the Master Educator for Magpie USA, work with Magpie at trade shows throughout the United States, and teach the training program for new Magpie educators.

____________

NAIL INSTRUCTOR

I had the opportunity to teach nails at a local cosmetology school about once a week.  The experience I received there was so valuable and I loved teaching the students, however I wished for smaller class sizes.  I was really drawn to apprenticing with the 1:2 aspect and the ability to choose dedicated and enthusiastic people to train.  Thus my apprentice program was born.

I have now successfully apprenticed and licensed 18 nail technicians, and helped 50+ local nail techs begin their own apprenticeship program.

As a branch off apprenticing, I created an Advanced Nail Course for licensed cosmetologists who want to focus on nails or licensed nail technicians who need extra training.  This course is structured like a "mini-apprenticeship".  Through this course I have helped 4 cosmo's begin a successful nail career.

____________

SALON OWNER

I have spent 8 years of my career as a salon owner.  The first 4 years I co-owned a full service salon with my mom in Spanish Fork, Utah.  Our salon offered hair, nails, aesthetics and massage services.

Education was an important part of our salon and we fostered a training program for newly licensed cosmetologists and nail technicians.  During this program they would work alongside an advanced artist to assist with services, learn through experience and participate in weekly 1:1 classes.  Our program helped professionals gain salon experience, learn new skills, and build their clientele under the safety of a mentor.  I personally mentored 8 artists through this program.

In 2018 I opened a nail salon in Springville, Utah, and have spent the last 4 years growing my business and team at Polished Looks Nail Salon, Academy and Supply.

My initial purpose for starting Polished Looks was to create a nails-only training center.  I began teaching continued education classes and started taking on nail apprentices.  My team of booth renters quickly grew from my apprentices as they graduated and students who attended my classes.

In 2020 I expanded to a new location and set out to create a welcoming, safe, profitable for all and educational environment for nail techs.  Following that path, Polished Looks has now grown to 14 technician desks, 4 apprentice desks, 4 pedicure stations, a quarterly apprentice program, a classroom, a supply store with multiple professional nail brands, and a team of 30+ nail technicians.

____________

CLIENTELE EXPERIENCE

I have been a licensed cosmetologist going on 15 years now and have always worked full time behind the chair.  Within my first year I grew a full clientele, closed my books to walk-ins, and gained new clientele by referrals only.

My clientele was about half hair and half nails.  Sprinkled throughout I also offered lash extensions and permanent cosmetics.  10 years in I decided to narrow down my specialty and focus solely on nails.  This was a drastic change, and at the time a scary decision, but I jumped in with both feet and I’ve never looked back.

I have seen the nail industry change, trends come and go, and I've learned what it takes to stay in this industry long term.  Building and maintaining a long term clientele that is PROFITABLE is key, but the steps to get and stay there aren't something we are usually taught in nail school.  The knowledge and skills I have learned throughout the years is what I love to share with other technicians.

In October 2022 I decided to take a step back from clients and focus solely on my salon and educating.  I only service about 6 clients now to maintain my skills of being a service provider.
